Advanced Program

11AM - 2PM

 

Hot cases presentation (Wed, TBA, ED meeting room) 

For all other trainees, these sessions provide a forum for discussion and clinical reasoning.  An average of 2 cases are selected and presented by Registrars in a variety of formats. Email reminders will be sent out ahead of time.

Paediatric Teaching (fortnightly Wed, 11am - 12pm, ED meeting room)

Specific paediatric sessions will commence from 2015 with Dr Loren Sher (ED Paediatrician).

Simulation (Wed, 10am - 2pm, Sim Centre)

Designed to hone leadership skills and to focus on advanced emergency care concepts in a setting of teamwork, peer-review and critical feedback.  These are held at the Simulation centre located outside Outpatient D or the NEW Northern Centre for Health Education Research (NCHER).  

 

Workplace Based Assessment  (Daily 2pm)

See WBA for rosters and overview.

 

Joint Meetings (Wed, 12:30pm, ED Meeting Room)

All trainees are expected to attend and present at joint meetings with ICU, Paediatrics and Morbidity and Mortality.  

 

Plaster Sessions (Tues, 9am - 1pm, Outpatients)

The Orthopedic unit has kindly provided opportunity for registrars and HMOs to learn the fine art and nuances of plastering from Plaster nurses at Fracture Clinic. This is counted toward teaching time.

Skills Sessions (Wed, TBA)

Airway, BLS/ALS, procedural sedation, paediatric sessions, ED ultrasound, chest drains, eye workshops and much more.
